Yesterday was our first experience at Comic-Con. While I saw a ton of stuff, I learned a little about attending Comic-Con.
Get there early.
We got there about 11:00 am and headed straight to the Lego display only to discover there were no more minifigs to hunt down and the minifig raffle was on Friday (we only had tickets to Thursday) We didn’t even get to see the exclusive minifigs they were giving away. We headed over to the Mattel booth so my daughter could get the Monster High exclusive doll.
Gone.
So, if you are going to SDCC to get anything, get there early. Although I did score some Walking Dead Minimates which I will go over this weekend. Now, to what you clicked on this blog to see:
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Gathering is priced at $59.99 and will be released in December. The minifigures are the same ones ( Gandalf, Dwalin, Bombur, Bofur, Bilbo, and Balin.) that we already saw in my last post. The set is a pretty cool representation of Bag End and with 6 minifigs, you get a bunch of play value. I love the fence component and the fact that they got the round Hobbit door pretty much correct.
Inside Bilbo’s house we see a big table with some food on it. We also see what looks to be a new piece: a pretzel! Other than that, it’s pretty sparse. The tiles on the floor appear to be maps of some sort.
Other than that, there wasn’t a ton of news yesterday. It looks like there is a bunch of news going on today. Head on over to FBTB.net to see the reveals from today.
One last thing, head on over to our Flickr page to check out some more pics of the Lego booth.

I’ve only been once and that was probably a decade ago when it wasn’t crazy crowded. Since I live in San Diego, I have lots of friends that are there. Some were there by 5am! Love Bilbo’s house!
Yeah, yesterday was our first time and it was insane! We had all these panels we were planning to attend and we abandoned that idea when we saw the lines! I heard that a woman who was lining up for the Twilight panel was hit by a car and died. On Wednesday! If I go next year, I will probably not take the kids and I will be there when the doors open!
Yeah, I heard about that lady…that’s too bad. Yup, that’s the way to go. If I didn’t have 2 kids to take care of, I’d be there lined up at 4am!
